“It’s My Park Day”

October 9, 2014 by admin

Come celebrate it with us on Saturday, October 18th!

It's My Park DayPlease plan on joining us between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, October 18 for “It’s My Park Day!”

Throughout the city’s parks there are many events and activities planned and we are happy to be joining in the celebrations!

It’s My Park Day encourages New Yorkers to participate in improving and ensuring the future of the open spaces we utilize and depend upon. At The 105th Street Dog Run we have several rewarding activities planned, and hope you will get in on the action!

First, it’s a great time to ready the run for the winter. We need help with the basic (and aerobic) tasks of raking gravel, clearing out the fallen leaves, sweeping, filling in holes, and just ensuring the run is a safe and clean place for our pups to play.

Second, we’re fundraising (yay!). No one likes asking for money, but we all know that there are improvements we would like to see made to the run: a new surface, for instance. No such improvements can be accomplished without the financial support of the dog run’s users. So please be sure to either go to dogrun105.org/donate or bring your checkbook to the run on It’s My Park Day and contribute in person! All monies donated go directly to the maintenance and improvement of the run.

Finally, we are always looking for talented dog lovers to help improve the dog run; physically, sure… but also with our communications with our two-legged users! Are you an HTML5 wiz? How about a Twitter enthusiast? Do you have a knack for graphic design? Or maybe you’re a marketing genius? Put your skills to good philanthropic use by helping us get our message out. You can meet the current board members at the run on It’s My Park Day and join the pack! 😉

So give us a shout—let us know if you think you’ll make it on Saturday, or, if you can’t, tell us if you’re interested in volunteering in any of the aforementioned ways in the future:

We look forward to seeing you all on It’s My Park Day—Oct. 18th… and every day at the run!

The Return of Sunday in the Run!

Return of Sunday in the Run

Volunteer at the run this Sunday 10–2!

Come get to know the great people who use the dog run while, together, we chat over refreshments for humans and dogs alike and, most importantly, pitch in to help keep the dog run in the best shape possible! We’ll be pulling weeds, filling holes, and sweeping scattered gravel back into the run where it belongs.

So give your Sunday morning a great start while doing your part!

Come on down this Sunday, July 27th, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM in the dog run!

The weather forecast is for perfect run-upkeep weather!

See you there!

DR105 Goes to the Gala!

June 12, 2012 by admin

On the evening of June 11th, The Riverside Park Fund held its annual benefit gala.

Five board members from The 105th Street Dog Run user group attended the event. While a good time was indeed had by all, of far greater significance is the fact that our presence served to put the dog run and the user group back on the “radar” of the Fund’s staff and supporters!
